Curate Your Own Resource Page Assignment

Curate Your Own Resource Page Assignment

Q Submission Options: o Written assignment What you'll do: For this assignment, you'll curate/create your own resource page about a subject you care about. For an example of what your final work product should look like, just look at any resource page in the modules. That's the basic template. Only this time you're in the driver's seat instead of me. How to do it: First, choose a social justice issue/problem that you care about. This should be something that is specifically relevant to women inside the United States (since this is U.S. Women's History). Second, identify and read at least 3 credible written sources about this issue/problem. Third, identify and watch/listen to at least 3 credible media sources about this issue/problem. Informed by your source materials, write a 250-word minimum (no maximum) introduction to your issue (much like I write the introductions that appear at the top of each resource page). You can use a bullet-pointed introduction or a paragraph format. That is up to you. Formatting your submission: o Your final submission should start with your 250-word introduction o Then a citation with link to each of your credible written sources and a short summary of what each source is about o Then a citation with link to each of your credible media sources and a short summary of what each media source is about. You are free to add to that basic template and make your submission as creative as you wish. Just be sure you at least have those three core elements: introduction, written sources, media sources. Checklist for full points: Make sure your submission checks off each of these boxes in order to receive full credit. o Is the social justice issue/problem you've selected specifically relevant to women inside the United States? o Did you write an original 250-word minimum introduction to your social justice issue/problem? o Did you include citations with links to each of your three credible written sources? o Did you provide a short summary of what each written source is about? o Did you include citations with links to each of your three media sources? o Did you provide a short summary of what each media source is about? o Is what you're submitting college-level writing including, but not limited to correct spelling, capitalization, grammar, usage, citations, etc.? (In other words, please remember that the writing skills you honed in English VO1A apply to the work you're submitting in this class too.) How Assignments Are Graded: Submissions that answer each prompt posed and check off every box on the checklist above will be marked "complete" and receive full credit. Answers that skip one or more prompts and/or do not check off every box on the checklist above will be marked "incomplete" and will receive 1/10 points. If nothing is submitted, a zero will be entered in the grade book to indicate "missing".

The social justice problem in the United States The social justice problem that is more evident in the United States and I am concerned about is ‘Pregnancy and Parenting Discrimination.’ In an organization, when their employers realize that women are pregnant or return to work after having a baby, they are frequently dismissed or driven out of their positions. Many employers, particularly in low-wage industries dominated by women, terminate pregnant workers on the spot (Eaton, 2019).
